Haslemere Festival celebrates the Coronation of King Charles III
Haslemere Festival invites all the people of Haslemere and the surrounding villages to join us on the Bank Holiday Monday May 8th to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. Haslemere will be festooned with bunting and will be flying Union and Commonwealth flags on lampposts from the top of the High Street to Junction Place. There will be two special Coronation Arches, one across the High Street and another across Wey Hill, so the scene will be set for a Royal celebration.
Firstly we are organising a Carnival Procession to process from High Lane to Lion Green. It will start at 1:30 pm and we ask people to assemble at the Green alongside Weycombe Road on the High Lane estate and adjacent to the Community Centre from 12:30 pm. Stewards will be there to assemble the procession and advise everyone on the H&S implications. There are two themes to the day, the environment and the Commonwealth and we would like as many Haslemere organisations to be involved as possible. If you would like to join the Carnival procession, please download the Carnival Application download the Haslemere Coronation Carnival Application Form here. If you have any queries please contact Ken Griffiths ken@haslemere.com
When the procession reaches Lion Green, there will be a ‘village fête’ atmosphere with many activities such as ‘splat the rat’, ‘play your cards right’, Haslemere stocks, etc. In addition there will be a children’s fun fair, hot food stalls, the Coronation Bar and live music. The entertainment is free – no tickets needed.
